Joseph Yanni

Joseph P. Yanni was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, teacher, and coach. He was a great example of service and unselfish love. Joe was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated and played football in high school at Judge Memorial High School and at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Joe was married to the love of his life, Stephanie, and father of three daughters, Jennifer Dobson, Elizabeth Nelson, Angela Hudiburg. Joe began his professional career in Scobey, MT where he taught high school English and Physical Education for three years. Joe then began teaching junior high English, Physical Education, and coaching football and track in Lovelock in 1976. Joe lived and worked in Lovelock for 27 wonderful years. Joe was “Coach of the Year” three times as well as a “PCCTA Teacher of the Year”. Joe Yanni was an amazing positive influence on many students and athletes over the years. Joe loved sharing Shakespeare with students. Many students recall learning grammar rules and remember his one main classroom rule: "Don't make me mad!" Joe made lasting relationships with many fellow teachers and coaches. Joe was very active in his church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he served as a youth leader and parish council President. Joe’s hobbies included running, hiking, mountain climbing, traveling, spending time with his family, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Gonzaga basketball team. Joe Yanni is loved by missed by his family, friends, and students.
